The Time Of Famine Is A Time For Giving.

It sounds like a paradox. If you want to prosper in a time of famine, it is the time for giving from the little you have (even if it is your last plate of food).

It is a time of giving for the bible said “give and it shall be giving unto you” (Luke 6:38) and it could be given unto you beyond what you have given.

This woman (the widow of Zarephath) didn’t have much to share with anybody and why would God insist that Elijah goes to her house and insist that the woman would feed Elijah? Because He knew that was the only way the woman in her circumstances could provoke divine abundance not withstanding what was happening in the environment or the faming that was going on at that point.

So, one of the principles for prospering in the time of faming is to give. And in this giving, there is a special type of thanksgiving that took place here: this was giving to a prophet of God.

And so, we learn from this, that the times of faming is the time for Christians who want prosper to give to the prophets of God who are ministering unto them.

It is not a time to reduce your offerings, it is not a time to reduce your tithes or refuse to give or pay at all because things have become difficult. Instead, it is a time to insist on giving to God through His Prophets from the little that you have.

It will be foolishness to use the scarcity of the period or the recession of the period as an excuse to refuse to give or to support God’s work and His servants.
